Job summary

J.F. Dion School in the Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, 52 kilometres south of Cold Lake, is seeking a Full-Time Primary Teacher to join Northland School Division.

The successful candidate will deliver the K-6 program, champion Cree language and culture, and collaborate with families and the community to support literacy and Indigenous perspectives.

Qualifications

• Must hold Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
• Bachelor of Education (BEd) required.
• Experience teaching in rural and/or Indigenous communities preferred.

• Follow the prescribed program of studies for each subject.
• Plan and execute daily lessons based on short, medium and long range planning.
• Provide feedback to students and parents in a timely manner.
• Champion Cree language/culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
• Support school-parent-community engagement.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and commit to collaborative decision making.
• Promote differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

• Must hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
• Successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.

Additionally, should the successful applicant receive a successful evaluation, there may be an opportunity to receive a continuous contract.
