City of Cambridge is hiring a full-time Security Guard to join the Municipal By-law Compliance and Corporate Security Division. The role involves patrolling City properties, monitoring CCTV, managing access, and enforcing By-Laws with strong customer focus.

Ideal candidates hold a two-year college diploma in Law and Security or equivalent, a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence, and up-to-date knowledge of laws and safety procedures. Salary range $68,359–$72,691; benefits include OMERS pension.

Qualifications

• Two-year College Diploma in Law and Security or equivalent.
• Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence or ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of City By-laws and relevant legislation.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including conflict resolution.
• Ability to operate security software including CCTV, access control and alarms.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol City properties and grounds; respond to incidents.
• Observe and investigate security breaches, safety hazards, or theft.
• Maintain daily logs and incident reports with clear details.
• Manage access for visitors and contractors; verify credentials.
• Respond to alarms, assist in evacuations, and support emergency procedures.
• Enforce By-Laws and City policies; communicate with the public professionally.
• Escorts or removes offenders under applicable law; coordinate with authorities.
