Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a vigilant Full-Time Healthcare Security Officer for All Saints Hospital - Springhill in Nova Scotia. You will patrol grounds, monitor surveillance, control access, respond to emergencies, assist staff, and provide customer service to visitors and patients.

You will work 0700-1900 and 1900-0700 with a 4-on/4-off schedule; prerequisites include Nova Scotia security license, Intermediate First Aid/CPR C, English fluency, and MOAB/UOF certifications.

Qualifications

• Nova Scotia Security License required or ability to obtain.
• Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (CSA-approved)
• English fluency in oral and written
• Previous security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) required or training available (not paid)
• Paladin covers training costs with 6-month commitment

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits.
• Monitor security cameras and alarm systems and report suspicious activity.
• Control access to restricted areas and verify authorized entry.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and assist staff during crises and evacuations.
• Provide directions and customer service to visitors, patients, and staff.
• De-escalate conflicts and handle interactions calmly and professionally.
• Document daily activities and incidents with accurate reports.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and local law enforcement for coordinated security.
• Enforce hospital policies and visitor/patient protocols.

Position: Full-time Healthcare Security Officer

Site: All Saints Hospital - Springhill

Hours: 0700-1900hrs, 1900hrs-0700hrs (4on (2 day 2 night) 4off)

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
• Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
