Job summary

Paladin Security in Halifax, NS, is seeking a Full-Time Security Officer to patrol assigned grounds, monitor surveillance systems, control access, and respond to emergencies to protect people and property.

Schedule: Monday–Friday 2200–0600. Payrate: $17.55/hour. Requirements include a Nova Scotia security license, Intermediate First Aid/CPR C, English fluency, and MOAB/UOF certifications (training may be provided).

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Security License for Nova Scotia
• Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C
• English (oral and written) fluency required
• Previous security or related field preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and MOAB are prerequisites or training available pre-onboarding

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned grounds to ensure safety and security
• Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems
• Control entry points and escort staff as needed
• Respond quickly to emergencies and assist during crises
• De-escalate conflicts and maintain professional interactions
• Complete incident reports and maintain accurate records
• Collaborate with site stakeholders to provide security services
• Enforce client policies and safety standards

Job description

Position: Full-time Security Officer

Payrate: $17.55/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday 2200-0600, shift timings subject to change

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Assigned Grounds: Patrol client properties by foot to ensure the safety and security of the site, and politely direct disruptive individuals to leave the premises
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the client site, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. Escort Staff per request
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as fire alarms or security threats. Assist site staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with site Stakeholders : Provide specialized security services and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders
• Enforce Policies: Follow and enforce rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Address any violations in a manner that upholds client properties safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
• Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) are pre-requisites of this position. Prior training certifications may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
• Applicants lacking acceptable certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
