Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Casual Security Guard for St. Mary's Memorial Hospital in Sherbrooke. You will patrol hospital grounds, monitor surveillance, manage access points, and respond to emergencies, ensuring safety and patient care.

You greet visitors, assist staff, document incidents, and collaborate with hospital personnel and local law enforcement. Prerequisites include NS security license, First Aid CPR Level C, English fluency, and MOAB/UOF certifications; training costs are covered

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
• Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• UOF/MOAB training costs covered with 6-month commitment

Responsibilities

Job description

Site Description: St. Mary's Memorial Hospital is a community hospital that serves the communities of Sherbrooke and surrounding areas. The hospital’s Community Health Centre provides a space where services, programs and physicians' offices are all under one roof. Position Details:

Position: Casual Security Guard Site: St. Mary's Memorial Hospital Hours: 0700-1900/1900-0700 Payrate: $ 20.50

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
• Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
