Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Full-Time Security Guard for the 1900-0700 night shift at 138 Hospital Rd, Cleveland, NS. You will patrol hospital grounds, monitor cameras, control access, and respond to emergencies to protect patients, staff and visitors. Requirements include a High School Diploma/GED, Intermediate First Aid/ CPR-C, and English fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: conduct regular rounds to ensure safety.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: operate cameras and alarms; report incidents.
  • Access Control: manage entry at restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: act quickly during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: assist visitors, patients and staff.
  • Conflict Resolution: de-escalate tense situations.
  • Report Writing: document incidents and concerns accurately.
  • Collaboration with Hospital Staff: work with staff and law enforcement.
  • Enforce Hospital Policies: ensure adherence to protocols.
  • Patient Watch Duties: continuous observation as needed.

Job description

Position: Full-Time Security Guard

Location :138 Hospital Rd, Cleveland, NS B0E 1J0

Hours: 4-day on 4-day off; 1900-0700

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff, ensuring that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
  • Perform patient watch duties as needed , including continuous observation to ensure safety and prevent harm. Monitor and report concerns, follow clinical direction, and document accurately.

Prerequisites:

  • Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
  • Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
