Qualifications

  • Experience in Social Intervention is an asset.
  • Good communication in Inuktitut and English; French is a plus.
  • Knowledge of urban Inuit Montreal realities, needs and assets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team spirit and collaboration.
  • Willingness to work outside standard office hours.
  • Ability to balance multiple urgent requests.
  • High integrity, autonomy, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Be at the airport from 14h00 to 22h00 Monday to Friday to assist arrivals.
  • Help community members with missed lifts, shelter needs, or identity cards.
  • Coordinate with Ullivik for departures.
  • Assist in Dorval Circle, Dorval Bus Terminal and Ullivik area.
  • Meet community members to discuss urban Inuit realities and safety.
  • Support homeless individuals toward emergency shelters and transitional housing.
  • Diffuse conflicts and collaborate with authorities and partners.
  • Develop relationships with Inuit experiencing homelessness and local organizations.
  • Travel within Montreal city as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Job description

Reports to: The Director-Reaching Home and Urban Inuit Division in the President’s Department.

Responsibilities:

Be at Airport from 14h00 to 22h00 Monday to Friday:

  • This would help assist and facilitate arrivals from the North or members of the community that arrived at the airport looking for a flight for the next day;
  • Assist members of the community might have missed their lift on arriving to Montreal or need a shelter;
  • If they do not have an Identity Card to take the flight, have a beneficiary card done;
  • Collaborate with Ullivik for the departures;
  • Assist in the sector, Dorval Circle, shopping mall, Dorval Bus Terminal and around the Ullivik;
  • Be present in the assistance of members of the community coming South if they need services;
  • Meet members of the community on the Urban realities, such as dangers of circulating in the city, providing safety tips;
  • For homeless members of the community, offer services and start the path toward using emergency shelters and transition to transitional housing;
  • Diffuse conflict situations, if possible and/or collaborate with authorities and partners.
  • Develops relationships with Inuit experiencing homelessness, Resource Organizations (PAQ, Open Door, Chez Doris, Etc.);
  • Be available and comfortable to travel within the city;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Experience in Social Intervention is an asset;
  • Good communication skills in Inuktitut and English, French is a great asset;
  • Have good knowledge of the realities, needs, and assets of the urban Inuit community in Montreal, or a strong willingness to learn about it;
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, have a team spirit and openness to collaboration, and contribute to a positive and healthy work environment;
  • Motivated, and be passionate about improving the quality of life of urban Inuit;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement and excellent work and moral ethic;
  • Ability to work outside standard office hours;
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and urgent requests;
  • Knowledge of urban Inuit priorities and understanding of the homelessness situation in Montreal;
  • High level of integrity, autonomy, and accountability;
  • High level of understanding of self-care
