Job summary

Bowline Health seeks a compassionate Casual Recovery Coach for the Calgary Navigation Centre, a frontline setting offering rapid-response support for individuals facing urgent life challenges. You will assess needs in real time and connect participants to housing, treatment, medical and social services.

Reporting to the Recovery Coach Lead, you will advocate for participants, use motivational approaches, and document interactions securely.

Qualifications

Completion of a Recovery Coach, Peer Recovery Support Specialist, or equivalent peer training (strongly preferred).
1–2 years of experience in peer support, outreach, crisis work, or social services; lived experience of recovery is a significant asset.
Deep understanding of substance use, homelessness, and the needs of marginalized populations.
Demonstrated ability to navigate community resources and service systems effectively.
Strong interpersonal communication, including active listening and non-judgmental engagement.

Responsibilities

Provide frontline recovery coaching support within the support centre.
Serve as the first point of contact for participants seeking support, conducting rapid assessments to determine urgent needs.
Quickly connect participants to housing, treatment, medical, and social services, prioritizing safety and stabilization.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community-based programs and services for immediate referral and access.
