Job summary

Emterra Group in Burlington, Ontario is seeking an AZ/DZ licensed driver to join our waste collection fleet. You will operate front-end or roll-off trucks to collect garbage and recycling at commercial buildings, using mirrors and cameras to back distances up to 120 feet.

The role requires a valid Ontario AZ/DZ license, a clean driving record, and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work 9.5 hour shifts, overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario AZ/DZ driver's licence with a clean abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum one year experience in roll-off and/or front-end driving.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work long shifts.
• Able to pass MTO medical/drug test, background check, and license verification.

Responsibilities

• Operate waste collection vehicles (front-end or roll-off) to collect garbage and recycling from commercial buildings.
• Work independently while maneuvering the truck using mirrors and cameras up to 120 feet.
• Keep truck and surroundings clean and safe during dumping.
• Communicate with supervisors regarding concerns or suggestions.
• Observe safe work practices.

Job Duties

• Operate waste collection vehicles (front-end or roll-off) to collect garbage and recycling materials from commercial buildings;
• Ability to work independently and without assistance while maneuvering the truck in and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors and truck cameras to back distances up to 120 feet;
• Clean loose trash off the truck and/or ground around the truck and containers that spill during the dumping process;
• Communicate with supervisors regarding concerns or suggestions; and
• Observe safe work practices.

Requirements

• Valid Ontario AZ/DZ driver’s licence with a clean drivers abstract and CVOR
• Minimum one year working roll off and/or front end driving;
• Prepared to work minimum 9.5 hours per day (Must be available for overtime work as required);
• Experience in the waste and recycling industry and asset;
• Strong customer service orientation;
• Physically fit, must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis, dependable, able to work with minimal supervisor;
• Able to successfully pass a background check consisting on a MTO medical/drug test, criminal history search, license verification and employment confirmation; and
• Punctual, reliable, team player.
