About the Job:

Responsibilities include: check-in and check-out of hotel guests; answering the telephone; providing information about hotel services and tourism information about the city; exchanging foreign currency; responding to and resolving guest complaints; and other related duties.

Job Title: Front Desk Host

Reports To: Front Office Manager

Department: Front Office

Starting wage for the position will be CA$19.85 during probation, increasing to CA$24.81 after probation, and further increasing to CA$25.56 after 6 months.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-year guest service experience in a hotel or related industry.
  • Post-secondary education in hospitality or tourism.
  • Effective communication skills with guests, employees, and management.
  • Strong organizational, computer, cash handling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Energetic, outgoing, positive attitude, driven to provide outstanding guest service.

Daily Tasks:

  • Balance cash float at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Follow hotel policies and departmental procedures.
  • Verify guest payments and identification during check-in.
  • Process arrivals, special requests, and check-outs accurately.
  • Handle guest complaints promptly and efficiently.
  • Log and deliver packages.
  • Assist guests with hotel and area information, transportation, and luggage storage.
  • Ensure proper billing and account management.
  • Maintain guest security and confidentiality.
  • Complete shift audits and related paperwork.
  • Manage reservations, room blocking, wake-up calls, and group accounts.
  • Understand customer needs and hotel offerings.
  • Stay informed about hotel facilities, local attractions, and marketing programs.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
