Job summary

A tutoring center in Edmonton is seeking a part-time French Teacher/Tutor to provide in-person instruction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both spoken and written French and English, along with the ability to teach up to Grade 9 level. Responsibilities include teaching small groups and maintaining communication with students. Preference for those who can commit through the school year and summer. Position Overview

French Teacher/Tutor Wanted – Oxford Learning Edmonton Windermere, Edmonton, Alberta. Employment type: Part‑time. Pay: $18.00 per hour.

Position Requirements

• After‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am – 3:00 pm). Preference for commitment until the end of the school year and through summer.
• Strong background in spoken and written French and English. Ability to teach up to Grade 9 level; Grade 12 preferred. Instruction must be in French.
• In‑person position; commutable to Edmonton. No relocation packages available.
• Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
• Teaching certification an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum.

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring French at Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level.
• Strong English written and oral communication skills.
• Strong French skills and ability to guide student understanding.
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three students at a time at different levels.
• Conduct sessions in French (in‑person, teaching online not applicable).
• Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Fill in post‑lesson notes.
• Complete daily student communication updates.
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
