Job summary

Skyscraper Construction is seeking a skilled carpenter to perform on-site construction tasks in Calgary. You will read blueprints, prepare layouts, and measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials including wood and lightweight steel.

You will build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems on-site. The role requires 1 year to less than 2 years of experience and on-site work at the physical location.

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent construction experience.
• 1 year to less than 2 years of hands-on work experience.
• On-site work environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Schedule and coordinate work on sites.
• Estimate costs and materials.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
