Job summary

Valence, the AI-native coaching platform for enterprises, seeks a founding Applied AI Engineer to shape AI-powered leadership coaching at scale. You will work with the Head of AI and product/engineering teams to design and deploy context-aware systems in enterprise settings.

You are an experienced engineer with 8+ years in AI/ML, strong NLP, and cloud deployment, ready to own critical components from data ingestion to production-ready services. Hybrid Toronto-based role with global impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, AI/ML, or data-intensive systems experience.
• Familiarity with NLP, language models, and model evaluation.
• Strong data tooling and analytics能力 with Python stack.
• Growth mindset, curiosity, and ability to learn on the job.
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build enterprise-grade AI and conversational systems for coaching workflows.
• Develop, evaluate, and refine LLM-based components for production use.
• Integrate diverse data sources to improve context understanding.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and design to translate user needs.
• Prototype and iterate across backend, data pipelines, and frontend as needed.
• Build tooling, tests, and automation to support reliable deployment and observability.
• Accelerate data and science workflows to enable fast experimentation.
