Job description

Edge Transportation specializes in flat deck, heavy haul & over-dimensional freight services throughout North America. From full truckload to less-than-truckload needs, experienced operators ensure secure and efficient transport.

In addition, we offer Drayage services, which refer to a specialty logistics service that carries freight containers over short distances, an essential part of intermodal shipping.

We take containers in and out of warehouses, rail terminals, ocean ports, and harbors. This often involves taking large steel shipping containers off rail cars and ship decks and then loading them onto truck trailers. From there, the container is transported to a warehouse or storage facility to prepare for the next step in the intermodal shipping process. Drayage is part of a larger logistics process.

Edge Transport is growing and is currently recruiting for a full-time forklift operator for our Edmonton warehouse. The expected start date for this position is early April.

This is a Monday to Friday position, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or as dictated by business needs.

Scope:

1. Operate forklifts to accept, count, and unload materials from inbound trailers.
2. Load outbound materials from staging areas or trailers onto outbound trailers.
3. Handle shipping and receiving of materials along with accurate documentation.
4. Load all materials into trailers using proper load securement principles to prevent damage during transit.
5. Promote health and safety through active participation and leadership in Edge Transport's Health and Safety Program and Policies.
6. Operate all equipment safely.

What You Bring:

• Experience in warehouse operations (receiving or materials management) required.
• Experience in kitting and staging materials.
• Warehouse/parts picker experience required.
• Proficiency in MS Office (excellent Excel skills required).
• At least 3 years of forklift experience (gas, diesel, and/or electric powered) up to 10,000 lbs required.
• Strong attention to detail, follow-through skills, and organization.
• Flexibility to multitask and cross-train within the department.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment.
• Responsibility for safety of oneself and others at the worksite.
• Reporting of unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Safe operation of all equipment.
