Job summary

Doka Canada is seeking a Forklift Operator to manage forklift operations in the yard and warehouse, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and safety. The role involves picking, staging, transferring equipment, and maintaining compliance with Doka standards in an outdoor yard environment.

Responsibilities

  • Pick and stage orders with accuracy for shipment.
  • Receive and track equipment; monitor placement in yard/warehouse.
  • Follow Doka Standards for safety, quality and productivity.
  • Transfer equipment throughout the yard and load/unload trucks.
  • Consult with Supervisor on priorities, discrepancies, damages, and customer concerns.
  • Inspect forklift and report deficiencies; use PPE.
  • Monitor consumables to prevent shortages.
  • Count orders and perform inventory counts as required.
  • Ensure equipment is stored properly to maintain flow of goods.
  • Dispose of damaged or scrap material per policy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform lifting tasks up to 100 lbs with proper equipment.

Job Description

As a Forklift Operator at Doka Canada, you will be responsible for managing forklift operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards within the yard and warehouse. This role involves various hands‑on tasks including picking, staging, and transferring equipment while maintaining compliance with Doka standards. This role is based in a busy outdoor yard environment and is best suited for someone with experience working in construction, industrial, or jobsite settings. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating equipment outdoors in varying weather conditions, on uneven surfaces, and around active yard operations.

Responsibilities
  • Pick and stage orders: Ensure order accuracy while picking, wrapping, and staging orders for shipment.
  • Receive and track equipment: Manage incoming equipment, track paperwork, and monitor placement within the yard or warehouse.
  • Comply with standards: Follow Doka Standards for bundling, stacking, quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Transfer equipment: Safely move concrete formwork panels and accessories throughout the yard, including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Consult with Supervisor/Team Leader: Address order priorities, discrepancies, damages, and customer concerns.
  • Inspect forklift: Check for safe operation of forklift equipment before and after use, report any deficiencies, and use approved safety equipment.
  • Monitor consumables: Inform the supervisor / team leader about the status of necessary consumables to avoid shortages.
  • Count orders: Accurately count orders and returns, and perform inventory counts as required.
  • Manage logistics: Make sure equipment is properly placed and returned to its designated storage to ensure proper storage and flow of goods.
  • Dispose of scrap material: Ensure proper disposal of damaged or scrap material according to company policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness: Adhere to company cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform lifting tasks: Safely perform pushing, pulling, and lifting tasks up to 100 lbs with appropriate equipment.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school graduate (minimum requirement).
  • Minimum 1 year of forklift experience (experience with larger objects than standard pallets is advantageous).
  • Forklift certification required (certification training may be provided in some locations).
  • Previous experience in a construction or building materials yard is a desired asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Strong analytical skills, technical proficiency, and effective problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.
  • Ability to conduct and document daily forklift checks.
  • Capable of accurately counting, lifting 50+ lbs, and preparing related paperwork.
  • Punctual, reliable, and self‑sufficient in providing own transportation.
  • Responsible for following Health & Safety protocols, including wearing required PPE (e.g., safety boots).
