Job summary

Spectrum Resource Group is seeking a Forestry Technician Supervisor to lead field crews, coordinate production and logistics, and ensure safety and quality on projects. The role reports to the Timber Development Project Manager and requires relevant forestry experience and a valid BC driver’s license.

Work involves outdoor environments, travel, and coordinating with clients. The successful candidate will mentor staff, support budget adherence, and deliver final client deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years forestry-related experience.
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and driving record.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions.
  • Experience operating ATVs and pickups is an asset.
  • Ability to work away from home for scheduled periods.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate payroll tracking, production tracking, equipment inspection and maintenance, drills and safety documents.
  • Plan daily/weekly production and logistics; inspect team’s work with sample plots and documentation.
  • Motivate and inspire the team to perform to their fullest potential.
  • Communicate with clients and representatives to maintain good working relationships.
  • Oversee contract safety, production, and quality with Project Manager.
  • Assist Project Manager in keeping projects within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate completion of administrative duties such as payroll tracking, production tracking, equipment inspection and maintenance, drills, safety documents, and production reports.

  • Plan daily and weekly production and logistics for your team before the work begins and inspect your team’s work in conjunction with sample plots and document.

  • Motivate and inspire those on your team to perform to their fullest potential.

  • Communicate with clients and their representatives to maintain a good working relationship.

  • Collaborate with Project Manager to oversee contract safety, production, and quality.

  • Assist Project Manager in keeping projects within the allotted budget.

  • Create final deliverable packages to be submitted to the client.

  • Oversee completion of daily field tasks.

  • Train new staff to safely perform all job functions.

  • Ability to complete job duties in physically strenuous and varying terrains.

  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of Forestry-related experience.

  • Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset.

  • A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract.

  • Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset.

  • Prior supervisory experience ensuring production targets met while meeting financial targets.

  • Previous experience in compliance and implementation of safety standards.

  • Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent.

  • Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field.

  • The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time.

  • Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset.

  • A love of the outdoors.
