Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker for a casual position at Nats’oojeh Hospital and Health Centre in Fort St. James, BC. You will support cooks, prepare salads, beverages, and patient meals, and assist with tray setup and cleaning.

Under supervision, you will help with portioning, serving staff meals, and handling cash receipts where applicable. A Grade 10 with one year of related experience is the stated requirement.

  • Grade 10 with one year of related experience.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist cooks with blending, grinding, slicing, preparing salads and desserts.
  • Prepare patient trays and therapeutic diet items according to nutrition care plans.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and perform general cleaning; serve staff meals and handle cash receipts where applicable.

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Food Service Worker to fill a Casual position at the Nats’oojeh Hospital and Health Centre.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, and working within the scope of Northern Health (NH) Regional Policies and Processes, the NH Regional Food Safety Plan and the NH Regional Food Sanitation Plan, this position assists the Cooks, blending, grinding, slicing, preparing salads, vegetables, sandwiches, and portioning desserts, measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients. Sets up and portions, with accuracy, patient trays and / or resident meals including therapeutic diet items according to nutrition care plans. Check patient trays to ensure accuracy. Prepares items such as tea, coffee and toast. Washes dishes, pots, pans, utensils and performs general cleaning. Serves staff meals and oversees the collection and receipt of cash for items purchased which may include punching meal tickets.

Qualfications
  • Grade 10 with one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
