Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA is seeking a Food Service Worker to prepare and serve meals, ensure food quality, and maintain safety standards in a retail/healthcare environment.

You will perform prep work, assist with cashiering, and support daily service while upholding sanitation procedures and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• FoodSafe Level 1 certification is required.
• Experience with cash registers is a plus.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Good command of English, with ability to follow instructions.
• Experience in healthcare/hospitality is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, wash, peel, cut, and prep fruits and vegetables.
• Transport food and supplies safely between stations.
• Store and rotate food per safety procedures.
• Set up items for daily sale.
• Clean and sanitize work areas; dispose of trash.
• Assist with cashiering and serving in retail areas.
• Ensure food temperatures and portions meet standards.
• Address customer questions and relay feedback to supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Provide friendly service to customers.

Job description

Prepares, presents and serves meals, ensuring the quality of the food and overall presentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables.
• Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
• Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
• Set up items for purchase on daily basis.
• Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas.
• Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
• Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Notify cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits.
• Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
• Resolve customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor.
• Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
• Provide service in all retail areas, including cashiering and line serving.
