Job summary

Interior Health in Penticton, BC is seeking a casual Food Service Worker II to join our Support Services team at Penticton Regional Hospital. You will portion and serve meals, prepare beverages, and help with kitchen duties in a fast-paced hospital dining environment.

The role requires Grade 10, 1 year related experience and a Food Safe Certificate. You’ll work a rotating schedule from 06:00 to 14:00 or 11:30 to 19:30, with opportunities for training and benefits from IH.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent education, training and experience.
• One year’s recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Food Safe Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Portioning and serving meals and beverages in dining room/cafeteria.
• Sets tables with condiments, utensils and napkins.
• Washes dishes and utensils; cleans areas as required.
• Receives supplies and checks invoices against deliveries.
• Maintains temperature records for hot foods.

About the Job

• Portioning and serving meals and beverages within a dining room and/or cafeteria operation.
• Sets tables and trays with items including condiments, utensils, and napkins.
• Collects and unloads food service wagons.
• Washing and peeling vegetables and fruit.
• Prepares items such as meat, fish or poultry for procedures including grinding, flouring and breading.
• Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients for assigned food preparation area.
• Prepares beverages and food items such as sandwich fillings, nourishments and therapeutic diet items including tube feedings and milkshakes.
• Washing dishes and utensils.
• Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping and washing floors, cleaning counter tops and tables.
• Clerical duties such as answering the telephone, running diet sheets off the computer and writing information on menu cards.
• Receiving supplies and checking goods received against invoices.
• Takes and records temperature of hot foods at point of service.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

This position works a rotating schedule that includes day and evening shifts as follows: 06:00 to 14:00 and 11:30 to 19:30 hours.
