Job summary

Interior Health Authority in Penticton, BC, is seeking a Food Service Worker II to join our Support Services team at Penticton Regional Hospital. You will portion and serve meals, set tables, and assist with cleaning duties in a fast-paced setting.

The casual position offers 0–37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis, with rotating day/evening shifts (06:00–14:00 and 11:30–19:30). Join a team focused on reliability and quality service.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Portioning and serving meals and beverages in a dining room or cafeteria.
• Setting tables and trays with condiments, utensils, and napkins.
• Receiving supplies and checking against invoices.
• Washing dishes and utensils; cleaning counters and tables.
• Ensuring food temperatures are recorded at point of service.
• Prepares beverages and basic food items; handles clerical tasks as needed.
• Rotating shifts including day and evening hours.

About The Job

• Portioning and serving meals and beverages within a dining room and/or cafeteria operation.
• Sets tables and trays with items including condiments, utensils, and napkins.
• Collects and unloads food service wagons.
• Washing and peeling vegetables and fruit.
• Prepares items such as meat, fish or poultry for procedures including grinding, flouring and breading.
• Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients for assigned food preparation area.
• Prepares beverages and food items such as sandwich fillings, nourishments and therapeutic diet items including tube feedings and milkshakes.
• Washing dishes and utensils.
• Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping and washing floors, cleaning counter tops and tables.
• Clerical duties such as answering the telephone, running diet sheets off the computer and writing information on menu cards.
• Receiving supplies and checking goods received against invoices.
• Takes and records temperature of hot foods at point of service.

This is a Casual opportunity.

Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

This position works a rotating schedule that includes day and evening shifts as follows: 06:00 to 14:00 and 11:30 to 19:30 hours.
