Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Physically capable to lift up to 46lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs.
• Walk and stand for the duration of the shift.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications.
• Attend 1-4 days of new employee orientation.
• 1 year customer service experience.
• 1 year food service experience.
• Hospital or long-term care experience preferred.
• Inventory management experience; FIFO practices.
• Food Safe Certification or WHMIS training.

You will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident, and customer experience. Under the general supervision of a Food Services Supervisor, you will use your customer service, teamwork and organizational skills to independently:Prepare, handle, portion and package food and beverages. Assemble trays in the kitchen and/or serve meals in a dining room setting. Provide patient meal delivery and pick up. Order and put away unit supplies. Safely operate and clean industrial food service equipment. Adhere to safety, sanitation, and food preparation standards in accordance with AHS policies and guidelines.The successful candidate will be able to: Work independently in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy. Work under pressure in high stress situations. Communicate effectively in English with patients, co-workers, and other hospital departments. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and initiative. Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

1 year customer service experience1 year food service experience.Experience in a hospital or long-term care environment.Experience with inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates, and minimizing waste while utilizing “First In – First Out” procedures.Experience with Commercial Food Service Equipment.Food Safe Certification or equivalent.WHMIS training.
