Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Food Service I to perform routine food preparation, packaging, portioning, and service for Long Term Care residents at the High Prairie Health Complex. This casual/relief role includes delivering meals, cleaning, and operating food service equipment in a patient-focused environment.

The position requires basic computer skills, a Food Safe Handling Certificate within three months, and the ability to lift up to 46 lbs.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
• Physically capable to lift up to 46 lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250 lbs
• Walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift
• Food Safe Handling Certificate required within three months

Job description

Under the general supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, this position performs routine food service duties such as preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery, distribution, disassembly, cleaning, operating industrial food service equipment, inventory stocking, cash transactions and customer service in all functional areas of the department. Food Service delivery is provided to Long Term Care residents. This position must be independent and able to make some decisions as a supervisor is not on duty at all times. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Require basic computer skills. Food Safe Handling Certificate is required within three months. To work as part of a team, to be organized, perform duties independently and have the ability to work and learn quickly. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and customer service skills. Ability to read, write, speak and receive instruction in English. Must be physically fit and be able to perform heavy lifting up to 20 kg.
