Job summary

Great Canadian Entertainment is seeking a bartender to serve guests across various areas including restaurant, bar, theatre, or casino floor. Under supervision, you will prepare beverages, greet guests, and ensure safe, compliant service in a dynamic hospitality environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of bartending experience, POS familiarity, and Food Safety certification, with the ability to obtain a gaming license.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; hospitality education asset.
  • Minimum 1 year bartending experience.
  • POS experience required.
  • Food Safety Certification is required.
  • Ability to obtain Gaming License.

Responsibilities

  • Greets guests by name where possible and informs them of specials.
  • Takes orders, explains beverage preparation, and makes recommendations.
  • Prepares and serves beverages, ensures guest satisfaction and handles payments.
  • Counts cash and performs opening/closing duties as required.
  • Liaises with other departments and adheres to licensing laws and safety rules.

Under the direct supervision of F&B Sr manager, Assistant Manager and supervisors, this position is responsible for serving the guests beverages with the strictest regard to rules, regulations and outlet operational guidelines while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. This position may serve in a restaurant, buffet operation, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a banquet, in a theatre, in in-room dining or other areas. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadians learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.

Key Accountabilities


  • Greets guests by name wherever possible

  • Informs guests of any daily specials

  • Explains how various beverages are prepared

  • Takes guest orders and makes recommendations

  • Prepares beverages

  • Serves guests and checks to ensure satisfaction

  • Resolves guest's issues or asks management for assistance

  • Presents bill upon request and takes payment in the absence of a cashier

  • Cleans tables or counters, removes glasses and re-stocks when applicable

  • Delivers beverages to hotel rooms as directed when applicable and obtains signature and removes used trays

  • Performs opening or closing duties as required

  • Counts cash float at end of shift (if applicable)

  • Covers other bartender sections when required

  • Exercises good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages according to SIR, Smart Serve or IGB

  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments

  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership and team members

  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations

  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed


Education And Qualifications


  • High School Diploma; Post Secondary hospitality or hotel education an asset; Bartending certificate an asset

  • Minimum 1 year bartending experience

  • POS experience

  • Food Safety Certification

  • Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License

  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication


Work Environment Considerations


  • Regular casino, restaurant or bar environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, some exposure to noise, non-traditional work hours.
