Job summary

Smitty’s Family Restaurant in Kingston is seeking a self-motivated Food and Beverage Server. This permanent, full-time position offers an 30–35 hour workweek with flexible shifts. Start date is as soon as possible.

You will greet guests, take orders, describe menu items and daily specials, and process payments while delivering outstanding service in a busy restaurant environment. Certifications and reliability are required.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English language.
• Smart Serve Certificate is required.
• No specific bachelor’s or diploma required.
• Experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, present menus, make recommendations and answer questions.
• Take orders and relay them to kitchen and bar staff.
• Describe menu items, including daily specials, to customers.
• Serve food and beverages and handle payments.
• Respond to customer complaints or concerns.
• Enforce provincial liquor laws and regulations.
• Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs.

• The candidate must be of legal drinking age in order to mix and serve alcoholic beverages.
• The candidate will be expected to respond to customer complaints or concerns.
• The candidate must present bills to customers and accept payment in cash, credit or debit cards, travellers cheques, or room billings.
• The candidate will be expected to describe menu items, including daily specials, to customers.
• The candidate will be responsible for enforcing provincial/territorial liquor laws and regulations.
• The candidate will be expected to advise on menu selections.
• The candidate must clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs.
