Job summary

Tata Steel Minerals Canada Limited (TSMC) seeks a Food & Accommodation Coordinator (Mining) to join the Administration team at our Schefferville area site. The role supports on-site catering and lodging services and works within a Fly-in/Fly-out framework, with 12-hour shifts and 2 weeks on/off from the Menihek region in Labrador.

You will liaise with Sodexo and site contractors, ensure service quality, manage inventory, and assist travel/logistics while maintaining a positive employee

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years in a similar fly-in/out role.
• Strong time management and organizational skills with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Bilingual in English and French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support on-site food and accommodation services and contractors.
• Collaborate with administration and external partners to meet service standards.
• Collect stakeholder feedback to drive service improvements.
• Coordinate travel, transport and lodging logistics as needed.
• Ensure safety, confidentiality and proper record-keeping.
• Assist with FIFO-related travel files and related arrangements.
• Handle other duties assigned by the Admin Manager.

Tata Steel Minerals Canada Limited (TSMC), with our site outside of Schefferville QC, operates iron ore mines in the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec. TSMC is a joint venture between Tata Steel Limited and the Government of Quebec. The opportunity

Tata Steel Minerals Canada is currently seeking a Food &Accommodation Coordinator (Mining)to work within our Administration department and in close relationship with our site contractors providing catering and accommodation services on site. The incumbent will work on a Fly-in/Fly-out basis of 2 weeks On/Offto and from the Menihek region in Labrador, near the town of Schefferville, QC. Operations at our mine site are running 24/7 all year long. Standard work schedules are 12 hours per day.

The main pick-up points are St. John’s, Gander, Deer Lake, Happy Valley-Goose Bay in NL, Halifax, NS, Moncton, NB, and Montreal, QC.

Reporting to the Manager – Administration, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to our on-site food and accommodation contractor and ensuring that we are providing a positive and safe employee experience outside of our employee’s regular working hours.

Major Responsibilities

• Work closely with the TSMC Administration team, other departments and leaders, and external contractors to ensure that food and accommodations services being provided are up to standard.
• Gather feedback from internal and external stakeholders on a continuous basis to drive improvement.
• Troubleshoot and lead solutions to issues as they arise with respect to food and accommodations.
• Ordering of raw materials by the contractor is based on inventory.
• Work closely with Sodexo to ensure that buses provided by them for employee’s transportation are maintained in good condition , statutory inspections are done in time & house keeping of Dorm rooms are of high standard.
• Learn how FIFO works. Understand the travel file, charter arrangements & other associated jobs connected with travel
• Any other responsibility assigned by Manager – Admin.

Your Profile

• High school diploma or equivalent education
• 2 years of progressive responsibility in a similar role supporting a fly-in/out work environment
• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision;
• Flexible, versatile and thrives in a fast paced changing work environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with tact
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
• Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook programs
• Ideally someone who has worked in the Mining or Resources Sector on remote site.
• Bilingual in English & French would be an asset
