Job summary

Southpointe Academy is seeking a dedicated Teacher On-Call (TOC) to support students across Kindergarten to Grade 12 with flexible, on-demand teaching coverage. TOCs deliver prepared lessons and maintain continuity when regular staff are absent.

Candidates hold a Bachelor of Education or equivalent, and a BC Ministry of Education certificate. The role emphasizes inclusive learning, collaboration with teachers, and adherence to safety protocols; compensation is $350 per full day.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education or Equivalent.
• BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-prepared lessons and provide effective classroom management while adhering to the school's curriculum and guidelines.
• Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and active participation among students.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and reinforcing the school's values.
• Assist students with activities, provide clarifications, and offer additional guidance to help students demonstrate their learning.
• Collaborate with other teachers when necessary to ensure a cohesive learning experience. Communicate effectively with the regular classroom teacher, and/or leadership team, providing feedback on the day's activities.
• Be adaptable to teaching various grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 12, including teaching a range of subject areas such as Physical Education, Music, STEM, Art and French.
• Be familiar with the school's safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of students.
