Job summary

Southpointe Academy in Delta, BC, seeks a dedicated Teacher On-Call to support our IB program and ensure continuity during absences. TOCs provide well-prepared lessons and maintain classroom standards across K-12.

The role offers flexible hours, on-site work, and opportunities to contribute to a caring, inclusive learning environment while collaborating with teachers and leadership to maintain the school’s high educational expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education or Equivalent.
• BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-prepared lessons and provide effective classroom management while adhering to the school's curriculum and guidelines.
• Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and active participation among students.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and reinforcing the school's values.
• Assist students with activities, provide clarifications, and offer additional guidance to help students demonstrate their learning.
• Collaborate with other teachers when necessary to ensure a cohesive learning experience. Communicate effectively with the regular classroom teacher, and/or leadership team, providing feedback on the day's activities.
• Be adaptable to teaching various grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 12, including teaching a range of subject areas such as Physical Education, Music, STEM, Art and French.
• Be familiar with the school's safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of students.

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher On-Call (TOC) to join our dynamic team of educators at Southpointe Academy. Our TOC's play a critical role in supporting our school's mission to provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment for students. TOC's step in as a substitute teacher on an as-needed basis, ensuring continuity in the educational process during the absence of our regular teaching staff. This position is ideal for individuals who are looking for flexible hours, passionate about teaching, and committed to fostering a positive learning experience for learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and reinforcing the school's values.
