Job summary

BC Transit seeks a Daily Shift Manager in Victoria, BC, to supervise the maintenance and operation of the VRTS fleet. You will lead a large, unionized team, ensure buses are ready for service, and manage day-to-day repairs with strong safety oversight.

The role requires managing varied shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends), with a focus on efficiency, safety, and compliance under CVSE and NSC standards. Eligible candidates should have a maintenance background and trade certifications.

Qualifications

• Certified tradesman or Maintenance Technician/Technologist with relevant certifications.
• Experience leading a team within a shop or technical mechanical environment.
• Familiarity with CVSE and NSC regulations and requirements.
• Strong maintenance/mechanical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to supervise a unionized workforce and coordinate inspection/maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day repair, operation and maintenance activities of the Victoria Regional Transit System fleet.
• Oversee safety and daily work of a large unionized workforce to ensure buses are ready for operation.
• Manage shift scheduling including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Make day-to-day decisions on behalf of the maintenance team and coordinate repairs across depots.
