Job summary

CNH Industrial in Canada is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to construct, alter and repair a variety of special tools, templates, fixtures and weld jigs. You will create customer value by delivering high-quality parts and adhering to safety standards.

The role requires reading blueprints, operating manual fabrication machines, and performing welding as needed. You will contribute to cost reductions, quality improvements and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe work

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Demonstrate problem solving in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to operate manual fabrication machines and welding equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety standards and PPE requirements.
  • Identify unsafe acts and conditions and communicate with supervisors.
  • Maintain 5S in work area and manage tool/home organization.
  • Monitor process abnormalities and report to leadership.
  • Perform welding and fabrication as needed to meet specs.
  • Fabricate parts per specifications using manual machines.
  • Check tooling for quality and adherence to specs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reductions.

Job Purpose

Construct, alter and repair a variety of special tools, templates, fixtures and weld jigs. They create customer success by delivering the best experiences to their internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations including those regarding the usage of PPE, Emergency Plans and EH&S Policy.
  • To identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions by completing observation cards.
  • To maintain 5s by removing all tools, equipment, and parts not needed in the work area and for those that are needed to ensure they have a dedicated, labeled home and are in that dedicated home.
  • To monitor for and alert their Team Leader or Supervisor of any abnormalities from the standards in their area. This includes abnormalities in standard processes, standard machine operation, product quality, and logistics management.
  • Completes all CILR activities as required, identifies deficiencies and sources of contamination, including difficult access areas in the workstation, and provides suitable countermeasures to address these issues.
  • Construct, alter and repair a variety of special tools and templates, fixtures, and weld jigs.
  • To fabricate parts to specifications using various manual fabrication machines such as saws, brakes, lathes, and mills.
  • Check tooling made or modified by outside subcontractors to insure it meets quality specifications.
  • Bench work involving filing, grinding, assembling, and adjusting to obtain satisfactory operations.
  • Perform welding requiring skill and knowledge of fabricating practices when the need arises.
  • Responsible for cost reductions as applicable to the area.
  • Move materials as necessary in the performance of duties.
  • Ensure all products meet the quality guidelines and follow all quality standards, procedures and guidelines in place and be active in improving product quality.
  • To be involved in the root cause analysis of S EWO, EWO, HERCA, and equipment problems.
  • To contribute to the continuous improvement of safety, quality, and productivity by submitting one (1) Suggestion every two (2) months for a total of six (6) per year.
Experience Required
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in manufacturing processes.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in welding and/or in the fabrication of parts using machines such as saws, brakes, lathes, and mills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, including welding diagrams and symbols.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Able to perform considerable physical effort consisting of frequently lifting or moving average weight material in difficult work positions. The candidate must be physically able to wear a respirator while some tasks such as light painting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in both MIG welding and operation of manual fabrication machines such as saws, brakes, lathes, and mills.
  • Journeyperson certification in a related field.
Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is CAD $35.84 - $39.90 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
