Planet Fitness in Lethbridge, AB is hiring a Fitness Trainer to deliver friendly, high-quality service and promote member satisfaction while supporting Planet Fitness Mission, Vision and Values.

Responsibilities include observing participants, guiding exertion levels, teaching breathing techniques, evaluating needs, monitoring progress, enforcing safety rules, and providing basic first aid. This is a full-time, fixed schedule position with weekday shifts and some evenings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
• CPR/AED certification preferred.

• Observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement.
• Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
• Teach proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion.
• Evaluate individuals' abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet any special requirements.
• Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed.
• Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment.
• Administer emergency first aid, wrap injuries, treat minor chronic disabilities, or refer injured persons to physicians.

The Fitness Instructor must be adept at balancing multiple tasks with a friendly, courteous demeanor.

Monday: 8:00pm - 3:00pm

Tuesday: 8:00pm - 3:00pm

Wednesday: 12:00pm - 7:00pm

Thursday: 12:00pm - 7:00pm

Friday: 12:00pm - 7:00pm

Saturday: OFF

Sunday: OFF

Skills

• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead up to 30 minutes of workday (i.e., assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels) with appropriate safety equipment
• Ability to occasionally bend at waist with some twisting up to one hour of workday

Minimum Qualifications

• 18 years old or older
• A High School Diploma Or Equivalent required, Associates degree preferred
• CPR/AED Certification preferred.
• Six months face to face customer service experience in a retail environment required or 1-year Fitness experience preferred
• Bilingual a plus
• Certification is required to assist and coach members. If not currently certified, a group course is provided and completion is required within the first few months of employment.
• First Aid/CPR an asset.
