Job summary

The University of Calgary's Active Living department is seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief Assistant Coordinator for the Fitness Centre on the main campus. This front-line role supports operations, staffing and customer service across multiple fitness facilities, including scheduling, training, and risk management.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 3 years of a post-secondary degree in a related field (Kinesiology, Sport or Recreation Management preferred).
• Current CPR-Level C/Standard First Aid/Automatic External Defibrillator Certifications.
• A minimum of two years of professional experience working in a fitness centre.
• A minimum of two years of professional experience in front-line customer service.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and strong organizational skills.
• Staff scheduling experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise operations within the Fitness Centre and related areas.
• Maintain daily staff schedule and create term-based schedules.
• Lead and mentor part-time and junior staff and develop staff protocols.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle program registrations and payments.
• Ensure access control, safety, and security; enforce policies.
• Lead cleaning, maintenance, and safety checks; inspect equipment and coordinate repairs.
