Job summary

The NTC Usma Family and Child Services in Campbell River, BC is seeking three experienced, C6 delegated Social Workers to fill permanent full-time positions with full caseload responsibilities. Travel by vehicle, boat, and airplane may be required depending on caseload.

Usma Nuu-chah-nulth services support child safety and community collaboration. Preferred qualifications include a BSW, CYC, or related degree with years of progressive social work experience with First Nation families; knowledge

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in social work or related field with several years of caseload experience involving First Nation families.
• Knowledge of Nuu-chah-nulth governance, culture, or being a First Nations person is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and investigate reports about a child’s need for safety.
• Consult with Nations focusing on safety issues; prevent abuse and neglect; keep children connected to family and community; preserve cultural identity of Nuu-chah-nulth children.
• Evaluate vulnerability factors using a trauma-informed lens.
• Collaboratively create a safety plan with the family, supports, and Nation.
