Job summary

Wesko Locks, part of the ASSA ABLOY group, seeks an experienced Firmware Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for electronic locking products at our Mississauga, Ontario location.

You will work on microcontroller-based systems using C in RTOS environments, integrating I2C/SPI/UART, BLE, and Wi‑Fi, while collaborating with hardware and software teams to ensure reliability and user experience.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of embedded firmware or software development experience.
• Post-secondary education in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, and UART.
• Experience with BLE and Wi‑Fi.
• Familiarity with RTOS, Git and development tools.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for electronic locking products.
• Develop firmware for microcontroller-based systems using C and RTOS environments.
• Implement and support communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, BLE, and Wi‑Fi.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve firmware issues through root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with hardware and engineering teams throughout product development.

• Support product validation, testing, and verification activities.
• Assist with firmware releases, updates, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical support to production and other internal teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and new product development.
