Job summary

Semtech Canada – Signal Integrity Products Group in Ottawa is seeking a Firmware Intern to contribute to the firmware design, development, verification and characterization of data communications or video products. You will be an integral part of the team, learning through direct involvement and progressively handling more complex tasks.

You will design firmware, document work, implement modules in C/C++, and collaborate with a mentoring team throughout a 12–16 month internship.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of real-time operating systems.
• Embedded programming in C or C++ and some assembly knowledge is useful.
• Familiarity with Python and debugging.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Analyze product requirements to determine data structures and behaviors.
• Assist with firmware design and architecture.
• Write documentation for firmware modules.
• Develop firmware using C, C++, and assembly.
• Create tests and test automation for module validation.
• Ensure interoperability between firmware and hardware components.
• Collaborate with senior designers for mentorship during internship.
