Job summary

Semtech Ottawa Design Centre offers a 12-16 month analog IC design internship. The successful candidate will work as part of our SIP team, contribute to high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits, gain hands-on experience with modern CAD tools, and receive mentoring from senior designers.

This internship emphasizes learning through direct involvement with tasks, and includes exposure to Python, scripting, and verification workflows in a fast-paced data communications context.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of analog electronic circuit fundamentals.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently or in a team environment.
• Exposure to transistor level circuit design/analysis would be an asset.
• Exposure to CAD circuit design tools (e.g. Cadence Virtuoso) would be an asset.
• Experience with Python and/or scripting languages such as Matlab would be an asset.
• Desired start date May 2027, 12-16 month term.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, verification, and characterization of analog and mixed-signal circuits.
• Circuits such as phase-locked loops, equalizers, optical and cable receivers and drivers; state-of-the-art BiCMOS and CMOS tech.
• CAD tools for layout, simulation, verification; scripting for IC design and validation automation.
• Mentoring and guidance from senior designers during the internship.
• This position is for a 12-16 month student Analog IC design internship at Semtech Canada with the Signal Integrity Products Group (SIP) in our Ottawa Design Centre.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

• As the Intern, High Speed Analog IC Design, you will be involved with:
  • The design, development, verification and characterization of analog and mixed-signal circuits for use in our data communications products.
  • Circuits such as phase-locked loops, equalizers, optical and cable receivers and drivers plus other key circuit building blocks. State-of-the-art BiCMOS and CMOS technologies are used for these circuits.
  • Advanced CAD tools for the design, layout, simulation, and verification of the analog blocks plus scripting work for IC design and validation automation using Python, Skill, TCL, etc.
  • Semtech’s dynamic team environment and senior designers who will provide mentoring and guidance throughout the internship term.
