Semtech Canada invites you to join the Digital Design group in Ottawa as a Digital IC Design Intern. You will participate in definition, design, verification and implementation, contributing to data communications product platforms.

The internship is 12–16 months, with mentoring from senior designers, and tasks evolve as you learn. Start date May 2027. Pay ranges CAD 26–28.5 per hour, reflecting qualifications and location.

Qualifications

Job Summary:

As a member of our Digital Design group, you will have exposure to all areas of digital development, including definition, design, verification and implementation. As a member of the project team, you will provide high quality work and be accountable for helping the team meet its project milestones and objectives.

Our approach to internship is to make the successful candidate an integral part of our team. We understand that it is best to learn through direct involvement and we will provide you with tasks that enable you to learn and to be productive at the same time. The more you learn the more complex your tasks will become. The internship program is an important part of our recruiting strategy.

Responsibilities:

• As our Digital Design Intern, you will be involved with:
  • Design, development and verification of digital circuits for use in our data communications products.
  • Design, layout, simulation, and verification of the digital blocks using the latest State of the Art CAD tools to implement digital designs (including Synthesis, DFT insertion, and STA/timing closure)
  • Semtech’s dynamic team environment and senior designers who will provide mentoring and guidance throughout the internship term.
• This position is for a 12 – 16-month student Digital IC design internship at Semtech Canada with the Signal Integrity Products Group (SIP) in our Ottawa Design Centre.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Good understanding of digital electronic circuit fundamentals as evidenced through strong academic accomplishments in these areas
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently or in a team environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge and familiarity with SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL would be an asset
• Exposure to CAD tools used in the digital design flow would be an asset
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python would be an asset
• Desired start date May 2027, 12 – 16-month term
