Job summary

Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government is seeking a Fire Services and FireSmart Coordinator to manage day-to-day fire protection services and wildfire risk reduction programs. Working within the nis̓maakukqinʔaała team, the role liaises with providers, schedules FireSmart assessments, educates the community, and supports emergency preparedness.

The Coordinator implements approved plans, supports budgets, and ensures work aligns with traditional knowledge and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in Emergency Management, Fire Services, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1–3 years coordinating fire services, wildfire mitigation, or emergency programs.
  • Working knowledge of FireSmart BC principles and wildfire mitigation.
  • Experience coordinating schedules, events, or contractor activities.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Act as day-to-day contact with fire protection service providers and escalate issues to the Emergency Program Manager.
  • Schedule, support and document FireSmart assessments and related activities.
  • Coordinate field data, site access, and progress for vegetation management and mitigation projects.
  • Organize community education sessions and prepare culturally relevant materials.
  • Track expenditures, assist with grant reporting, and manage procurement within policy.
