Job summary

Community Government of Whati in Whatì, NT, is seeking a Fire Chief to lead the Fire & Rescue Services and provide strategic direction for the community’s safety programs. This full-time on-site role reports to the SAO and oversees planning, budgeting, training, and emergency response operations.

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma or Degree in Fire Service, multiple NFPA certifications, at least 5 years in a leadership role within a fire service, and a proven ability to manage teams,

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Fire Service required or equivalent.
• NFPA certifications listed in job requirements.
• Must have ACP EMR certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the Fire & Rescue Services team and ensure a safe, productive work environment.
• Develop annual plans, monitor budgets and report to SAO and Chief & Council.
• Oversee operations, training, safety, prevention and public education programs.
