Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is launching the Odyssey Program for recent graduates, offering hands-on fire protection design experience, mentorship, and exposure to diverse projects across industrial, infrastructure, transportation, and institutional sectors.

Locations include Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver. You will work under senior engineers on fire protection and life-safety systems, develop technical reports, and gain practical project experience within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate (or graduating in 2027) with an engineering degree in fire protection or related field.
• Strong academic background in fire protection topics and life-safety systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, analysis, and evaluation of fire protection systems, including fire alarm and fire suppression systems.
• Design of fire protection and sprinkler systems, risk assessment and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Participate in Integrated Life Safety Systems Testing activities, documentation, and deficiency tracking.
• Conduct fire and building code research (NBCC, NFCC, provincial codes, NFPA, ULC, CSA) to support code compliance reviews and alternative solutions.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, design briefs, system specifications, and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines to integrate fire protection requirements into coordinated designs.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, commissioning activities, and client meetings to gain practical project experience.
• Support engineering calculations, design development, and technical deliverables under the supervision of senior team members.
