Job Title: Fire Assay Floor Technician

Reports to: Fire Assay Manager

Department: Fire Assay

Location: Vancouver, B.C.

Full-Time

Basic Purpose:

Reporting to the Fire Assay Manager, the Fire Assay Floor Technician is responsible for conducting analysis of mineral samples by fusion. This individual will operate fusion equipment and ensure all required calibration records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:

  1. Load, pour and pound fusion in a safe manner.
  2. Proactively work as a team to oversee other team members’ load and pour methods to ensure team safety.
  3. Carefully set up crucible for mixing and discard all crucibles that should no longer be in use.
  4. Ensure fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority sequence.
  5. Perform and document quality checks at all stages of sample handling and halt production where necessary by Hold card.
  6. Operate fusion equipment and ensure all required calibration records are maintained.
  7. Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Mineralogical Technician position.
  8. Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  9. Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Minimum high school diploma.
  2. Previous experience in sample preparation or in a mineral processing lab environment considered an asset.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Strong organization and time management skills.
  5. Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  6. Safely perform physically demanding tasks with repeated lifting.
  7. Ability to handle weights of up to 50 lbs for prolonged periods.
  8. Open and inclusive mindset with a willingness to work in a team dynamic.

The salary range for this role is $20.51.
