Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Inspector to perform routine inspections, testing, service and preventative maintenance on life safety product lines. You will handle low voltage wiring, complete service acknowledgments, and maintain an organized inspection schedule.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma, valid driving record, and 2+ years in low voltage electrical systems. CFAA or Electrician Journeyperson certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and clean driving record.
  • 2+ years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems; fire/life safety preferred.
  • Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals and manuals.
  • Physical labour to move equipment up to 40 lbs; flexible hours including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical, sprinkler or suppression life safety product lines and similar products.
  • Work with low voltage wiring for operation of equipment.
  • Complete service acknowledgments with proper coding via laptops or paper.
  • Maintain a structured inspection schedule and document archives.
  • Provide repairs with minimal supervision and train other inspectors.
  • Complete inspections on time and perform other duties as assigned.

What you will do

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.

How you will do it
  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.

  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy.

  • Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.

  • Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via laptop computer.

  • Make repairswith minimal supervision.

  • Provide technical training to other inspectors and trainees.

  • Complete assigned inspections on time.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for
Required
  • High School Diploma required.

  • Ability to pass criminal background and clean driving record.

Preferred
  • CFAA Certified or Electrician Journeyperson

  • 2+ years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems. Fire and /or Life Safety Systems experience preferred.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.

  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.

  • Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Proficiency with using PCs including working knowledge of MS Excel / Word as well as iPhone apps.

  • Capable of performing physical labour to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 40 lbs.

  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc

  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.

  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.

  • Self-starter that can work with little to no supervision.

  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26-$41.8 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
