Job summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management and building systems, seeks experienced Inspectors to perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on electrical and life-safety product lines across diverse facilities in Delta, BC. The role entails interpreting blueprints, using hand tools and metering devices, and training junior staff while maintaining strict safety protocols.

Qualifications

• ASTTBC certification with AL, EM, and EX.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing repairs.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Proficiency with PCs including MS Excel/Word and iPhone apps.
• Able to work in ladders, scaffolding, high spaces, ducts, crawl spaces and above ceilings.
• Strong customer service and safety adherence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections, testing, service, and preventive maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines and related equipment.
• Work with low voltage wiring and devices for operation of low voltage equipment.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding via laptop or hard copy.

• Make repairs with minimal supervision and train other inspectors and trainees.
• Complete inspections on time and perform other duties as assigned.

What you will do

Experienced Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.

How you will do it

• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.

• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy.

• Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.

• Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via laptop computer.

• Make repairs with minimal supervision.

• Provide technical training to other inspectors and trainees.

• Complete assigned inspections on time.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for

Required

• ASTTBC certification with certifications in AL, EM, and EX.

• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.

• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.

• Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Proficiency with using PCs including working knowledge of MS Excel / Word as well as iPhone apps.

• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 40 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.

• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.

• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

• Ability to pass criminal background and clean driving record.

• Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred

• 5+ years of documented experience in low-voltage electrical systems; fire and/or life safety systems experience is preferred.

• Capable of performing physical labour to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 40 lbs.

• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.

• SP-P would be an asset.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $28-$40 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
