Job summary

City of Burnaby is seeking a Line Dance Instructor to lead classes for older adults at Confederation Community Centre. You will design beginner to intermediate line dance sessions, foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, and help participants stay active through music and movement.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent teaching experience in dance, have line dance teaching background with various age groups, and possess a valid First-Aid CPR C/AED or be willing to obtain

Are you passionate about dance and inspiring others through movement? We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Line Dance Instructor who thrives in creating a positive and inclusive experience for older adults and senior participants. The ideal candidate is patient, engaging, and comfortable teaching seniors in a supportive and encouraging environment. You will create fun and welcoming classes that inspire participants to stay active, make new connections, and enjoy the music and movement of line dance. You will teach a wide range of line dance styles, from classic to contemporary, and instructing classes from beginner to intermediate levels. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include an educational background in Dance, such as a Bachelor of Fine Arts or combination of teaching and related practice. We are looking for candidates with a background in teaching line dancing, and experience teaching to a variety of age groups. Successful candidates must have a valid first-aid certificate with CPR C and AED or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the program. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.

Pay Rate: $35.70 - 43.86 per hour

Location: Confederation Community Centre

Hours of work: This is a contract position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. The position will be based out of Confederation but may work at other 55+ facilities; Bonsor, Edmonds and Temporary Cameron. Schedules are based on employee availability and operational needs and may be scheduled on any day of the week in accordance with Recreation Centre operating hours. Shifts are typically 2 hours in duration.
