St. Lawrence College seeks a seasoned financial professional to coordinate grant-related reporting and audits. You will guide departments on general ledger reviews, grant documentation, and College procedures while ensuring compliance with Ministry and grant requirements.

The role requires a CPA, a 4-year degree in Finance or Accounting, and at least 5 years of non-profit accounting experience. You will work with the Financial Services team and may telework as approved.

Job description

This position is responsible for the coordination of all monthly/quarterly/ad hoc financial reports required by grant providers. Provide guidance and training to departmental staff for general ledger review, grant documentation requirements and College procedures. You are responsible for the preparation and completion of all special audits required by Ministry and/or other grant providers. Required to assess audit risks, plan, and prepare audit file and communicate with external auditors. Required to communicate with the external auditors as needed.

As part of the Financial Services team, you will also analyze and assess potential risks regarding grant financial requirements and calculate grant payable/receivables for fiscal period ends. Determine appropriate resolutions and propose recommendations to department and Director of Financial Services. You’re also responsible for the preparation of the College financial audit grant-related working papers.

Further responsibilities include the preparation of the Revenue and Grant Reconciliation reporting for the College Financial Information System with the Ministry. Responsibility for the completion of other non-grant reporting requirements, including the College’s annual Charity Information Return and supporting schedules and various Statistics Canada reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

A minimum of a 4-year degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting. A CPA designation is required.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively more senior accounting positions. Not-for-profit accounting experience. Experience with an integrated financial information system (utilizing the general ledger, grants, purchasing, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable modules) as well as a Student Information System.

Other Required Qualifications:
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent file organization and record management skills, ensuring accurate, well-maintained documentation.
  • Ability to determine reporting needs while meeting legislative requirements and prepare reports for both internal and external parties.
  • Ability to develop and posses a clear understanding of, Finance, HR and SIS.
  • Effectively communicates in both written and verbal communication.
  • Utilizes strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to assess information needs, select appropriate analytical methods, and effectively present findings to various audiences.

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location and work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college’s Telework Policy.

Light lifting up to 5kg to 11lbs, required when retrieving and transporting files/paperwork.

SALARY AND TERMS:

Support Group: Pay Band J

Start Rate: $44.48/hour
