Job summary

Nova Scotia Power, part of the Emera Group, is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting in Halifax to lead quarterly and annual financial reporting, MD&A, and external filings. You will drive technical accounting research, ensure robust ICFR, and coordinate with auditors and regulators while guiding a team of finance professionals.

The role requires a CPA/CA/CGA/CMA or equivalent, 6–10 years of accounting experience, and strong collaboration with stakeholders across functions.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting designation required (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA or equivalent).
• 6–10 years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in public company disclosure and reporting.
• Strong experience with financial statements, MD&A, and related disclosures.
• Knowledge of financial reporting standards; knowledge of US GAAP is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and delivery of quarterly and annual MD&A and financial statements.
• Provide technical accounting leadership through research and disclosures.
• Oversee financial reporting activities and ad hoc requests.
• Strengthen ICFR and ensure SOX compliance.
• Coordinate quarterly reviews, annual audits, and statutory requirements.
• Lead pension accounting activities and liaise with actuarial advisors.
• Build stakeholder partnerships and coach the finance team.
