Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Senior Manager, External Reporting & Accounting Policy to finalize and review financial reporting for annual and quarterly filings under securities commissions. You will prepare external information such as MD&A, AIF, press releases, and support the Board and Audit Committee disclosures.

The role requires a CPA, 7+ years in public company reporting/audits, and collaboration with external auditors to ensure compliance with US GAAP and IFRS.

• 7+ years in public company audits and external reporting processes.
• 3+ years in public accounting firm audits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual and quarterly financial statements, MD&A, press releases, AIF, and other external reporting.
• Coordinate with Audit and Risk Committee and Board disclosures.
• Review subsidiary financial statements and MD&A for external reporting.
• Monitor accounting developments and prepare comment letters on exposure drafts.
• Implement corporate accounting policies compliant with external reporting and US GAAP.
• Collaborate with external auditors to resolve complex accounting issues.
• Lead disclosure and controls program supporting CFO/CEO certification.
• Provide leadership to the team and manage performance and timelines.

Our client is an energy and clean power generation company. They are looking for a Senior Manager, External Reporting & Accounting Policy who will be responsible for the finalization, preparation, and review of financial reporting and disclosure requirements for annual and quarterly filings as set out by securities commissions or contractual requirements.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for producing external financial information, including press releases, Annual Information Forms (AIF), financial statements, and Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) for various users

Requirements

• CPA accounting designation is required.
• Strong financial reporting experience under IFRS or US GAAP (Public Companies), within Corporate Reporting and Financial Close at Group Level
• 7+ years of experience in public company audits and external financial reporting processes.
• 3+ years of experience in public accounting firm audits.
• Open to candidates directly from public accounting or both public accounting and industry experience

Salary Range

$140,000 - $160,000/year

About the Opportunity

• Prepare annual and quarterly financial statements, MD&A, News Releases, AIF, and other information used for external reporting purposes.
• Prepare information submitted to the Audit and Risk Committee and Board of Directors, as well as information filed with external bodies.
• Review and comment on the company's and various subsidiaries' annual and quarterly financial statements and MD&A prepared for external reporting purposes.
• Review accounting developments and related external analysis.
• Review and finalize internal analysis and comment letters on exposure drafts.
• Review and support the implementation of corporate accounting and financial policies and processes that comply with external reporting requirements and US GAAP.
• Work closely with the Company's external auditor to resolve non-routine and complex accounting and finance-related issues.
• Provide leadership in managing the disclosure and controls program, which supports the due diligence activities of the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer relating to quarterly and annual certification.
• Provide direction and supervise a team, ensuring strong performance and adherence to corporate behaviours.
• Assign time-targeted tasks, establish effective context, and clearly communicate objectives.
• Monitor progress and quality and conduct reviews of staff progress, accountabilities, and output.

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
