Canadian High Net Worth families entrust PWL to manage their investment portfolios on a discretionary basis and provide holistic financial advice for all facets of their lives. Financial Planning, Tax and Estate services are delivered via PWL Conseil, and investment management is delivered via PWL Capital which is a Broker Dealer and CIRO member firm. Both PWL Conseil and PWL Capital are wholly owned subsidiaries of PWL Wealth Management, with more than 90 employees.

Position Summary

The Financial Planning Associate position is an ideal role for someone that has at least 1-3 years of financial planning experience. In this role you would work closely with our Financial Planners to provide high quality advice to clients. Responsibilities include client meeting preparation (pre-meeting thinking), joining client meetings, post-meeting notes and execution of action items, financial planning analysis, preparation of financial planning summaries, and ad hoc analysis to answer client questions.

It is expected that employees in this role will continuously build their own expertise in financial planning, tax, and portfolio management through the pursuit of professional designations. This role is ideal for a candidate who wants to be part of a team providing conflict-free holistic wealth management advice to clients.

Responsibilities & Activities
  • Preparing financial planning projections using our firm approved software
  • Proactively making client-specific planning recommendations to our Financial Planners
  • Recording detailed post-meeting summaries in our client database
  • Executing action items and following through on client-related tasks
  • Providing ad hoc financial planning analysis to answer client questions
  • Preparing and uploading tax packages to our clients’ online accounts
  • Participating in and supporting growth initiatives as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Post-secondary education with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
  • Must have intermediate-advanced experience with Excel
  • Proficient knowledge of investing and financial planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Drive for continuous improvement and education
  • Must have QAFP or CFP designation
  • Securities license or completion of the required exams (CSC, CPH) is an asset
  • Insurance license or completion of the LLQP exam is an asset
  • CIM designation is an asset
