Job description

Requisition ID: #

Join a purpose-driven, winning team committed to results within an inclusive and high-performing culture.

To ensure our purpose remains central, we have rebranded our role as Financial Planners under Scotia Financial Planning (formerly 'Investment Specialist' under the Mobile Advice Team). Join a purpose-driven, results-oriented team in an inclusive culture!

As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service within the mass affluent market. You are entrepreneurial, understanding that growing a practice involves building long-term relationships. You leverage your external networks and centers of influence and value the freedom to grow your own practice. Your clients are your greatest asset, and your priority is to help them meet their financial goals through tailored investment and financial planning advice.

You excel at building new relationships and enjoy meeting clients outside the office on a schedule that suits both parties. You also appreciate working within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits both your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and acquiring new clients, while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance, and regulatory requirements. You will also establish business development opportunities within your assigned market area.

In this role, you will:

Promote the development and sustainable growth of proprietary investment business in your market area by:

  1. Executing business development plans for prospects and existing clients within the mass affluent market.
  2. Identifying additional investment opportunities and facilitating the implementation of solutions or referrals.

Client-Centric Approach:
Provide client-focused investment solutions through a financial planning framework, conducting outbound communications, proactive calling, and needs analysis across financial statements, including competitor statements.

Community Involvement:
Participate in local professional and community events, develop your network, deliver community sessions and seminars, and build your market profile. Manage a small marketing budget for independent activities.

To succeed, you should have:
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Current MFDA licensing (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course) and completed PFP(R) or CFP(R) designation.
  • Strong networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills, with experience building Centers of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and able to work independently and within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of market trends, offerings, economic conditions, and regulations.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings.

What’s in it for you?
  • An entrepreneurial environment with career development opportunities.
  • A flexible, fast-paced work setting allowing you to meet clients conveniently.
  • Compensation that rewards client base growth and retention.
  • Access to advanced resources, including marketing support, mobile technology, CRM, and financial planning software.
  • Opportunity to build lasting client relationships through exceptional service.
  • Work remotely without visiting a branch, with support from our branches and Scotia Global Asset Management.
  • A diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.

Other Information
  • The role offers a base salary plus variable pay. It is a mobile role requiring frequent travel.

Location: Canada, British Columbia, Richmond
