Job summary

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Ontario in Kitchener is seeking a Financial Analyst - General to support day-to-day accounting, data entry and financial administration within our finance team. This salaried, full-time role is based at the MCC Ontario office with a minimum of three days in the office and potential hybrid options.

The successful candidate will contribute to accounts receivable, donations and payroll entries while upholding MCC's values and commitment to nonviolence and community

Qualifications

  • Experience in an accounting role with a financial services team.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or business diploma with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts receivable invoices and apply payments.
  • Record donations and thrift shop sales into the financial system.
  • Assist in monthly bank reconciliations and monthly closing cycles.
  • Support payroll journal entries and other financial administration tasks.
  • Maintain equipment tracking and assist with year-end activities.

Financial Analyst - General, Kitchener Ontario

The Financial Analyst is responsible for day-to-day financial accounting matters, ensuring tasks are completed promptly and accurately. This salaried position will be responsible for the duties outlined below and will provide data entry, administrative, and analytical support to the financial services team of MCC Ontario.

MCC is a charitable organization that partners with churches and community organizations worldwide to walk with people who are disadvantaged. MCC supports activities that provide emergency assistance, reduce poverty, and promote healthy communities, sustainable living and alternatives to violence. As an internationally recognized NGO, MCC currently serves in more than 45 countries with over 475 partners, 1000 staff and 40,000 volunteers.

Additional Information

This role is based at the MCC Ontario office in Kitchener, ON. A minimum of 3 days a week in office. Hybrid options may be available as per our Flex Work Policy.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada for the duration of their employment. Successful candidates will be required to provide a Police Records Check upon hire.

  • Experience in an accounting role with a financial services team
  • Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
  • Organizational and time-management skills, with the proven ability to take initiative
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to process high volumes of financial information accurately and efficiently
  • Customer Service skills to maintain relationship with various stake holders
  • A bachelor’s degree plus 1-2 years of accounting experience, or a business diploma plus 3-5 years experience
  • The ability to regularly work from the MCC Ontario offices at 50 Kent Avenue, Kitchener
  • Experience working for a charitable organization
  • Familiarity with accounting software and fund accounting concepts
Key Responsibilities
  • Processing all accounts receivable invoices to tenants and partners and applying payments received
  • Processing additional AR invoices as requested by staff
  • Maintain monthly equipment tracking for billable use of company equipment (copier, postage machine, vehicles)
  • Participate in recording of donations received into the financial system
  • Participate in the recording of Thrift Shop sales into the financial system
  • Processing of non-donation deposits, including taking them to the bank
  • Participate in recording of Payroll journal entries into the financial system
  • Participate in recording of square sales as required (Raw Carrot, Niska, Picks Up, misc.)
  • Participate in the monthly financial closing cycle including journal entries, AR transactions
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations for all MCCO bank accounts
  • Generating transfer of funds weekly from the thrift shop bank accounts to the main operating account
  • Analyze historical GL transactions as requested
  • Other general financial administration as directed by supervisor

  • Manage financial relationship with tenants at 50 Kent regarding communication around tenant billing and payments

Salary Details

Base salary: $58,208 - The salary stated is an annual amount. This role starts on day 1 with a company paid benefit package

Benefits

Group benefits package is employer-paid and includes supplemental medical/dental/vision, life insurance, AD&D, global medical assistance, EAP and RRSP contributions matched - starts on day one.

As this is a contract role, LTD is not a part of the benefit package. LTD premiums are the responsibility of all permanent, salaried positions. Premiums are the responsibility of the team member and are paid through salary deduction.
