Purpose:
Provides financial and operational support to our client in order to achieve their business goals and objectives. Primary functions include financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, margin reporting, and analysis across customers, vendors, and cost centres. This role plays a critical part in maintaining company-wide standardized business performance measures, including key performance indicators (KPIs), enhancing visibility into margin reporting, and supporting ad hoc projects and reporting across Finance, Sales, and Operations. This position is located at our client’s head office in Acton, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Forecasting and Budgeting:
- Develop, maintain, and analyze financial forecasts and budgets aligned with short- and long-term business goals. This includes collaborating with different departments, preparing detailed financial models, and presenting findings to senior management.
- Variance Analysis:
- Compare actual financial results against forecasts and budgets, analyze variances, and provide explanations and recommendations for adjustments or improvements.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. This may include dashboards, KPIs, treasury reporting, and customized financial analysis for Finance, Sales, and Operations.
- Margin Reporting:
- Update and maintain accurate inventory costing to support effective customer pricing. Review inventory standards throughout the year and update as needed. Collaborate with the sales team to review pricing and analyze margin variances across the customer and vendor base, ensuring pricing strategies support overall business goals.
- Ad-Hoc Analysis:
- Provide financial analysis for special projects, investment opportunities, acquisitions, or cost-reduction initiatives.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy in reporting and forecasting.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- CPA designation or Certified Corporate FP&A Professional
Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience or exposure to an inventory costing environment
Knowledge:
- Strong ability to build models and develop internal financial reports to support departmental planning and performance tracking
- Highly motivated, proactive approach to understanding the business and providing insights to support decision-making
- Solid experience in accounting, financial planning, reporting, analysis, and system implementations
- In-depth analytical and financial modelling skills
